Today: China Glaze Hunger Games Nail Polish (Districts 1-6)
Tuesday: Fortune Cookie Soap Hunger Games Tribute Collection (soap and lotion)
Wednesday: China Glaze Hunger Games Nail Polish (Districts 7-12)
Thursday: Hunger Games manicure ideas (and my manicure for the premiere!)
As a bonus, I'm including the original names and inspirations for the polishes from China Glaze (which for most of these I liked the original names much better). These were leaked before the deal was made official with Lionsgate (I believe), and therefore they had to be scrapped. They were able to keep the colors though. So, let's get started!
District 1 (Luxury) - Luxe and Lush
Luxe and Lush is a chunkier flakie than what we've been seeing lately from Essie and Finger Paints. The flakies are orange, blue, and green suspended in a clear jelly base. This thing was a goopy mess. I had to pat the flakies on rather than paint them on like normal nail polish, but I think if it was a thinner formula it wouldn't have worked. These pictures are: L&L on pointer (1 coat), 1 coat of L&L over Foie Gras on middle, 1 coat of L&L over Smoke and Ashes on ring and 1 coat of L&L over Riveting on pinky.
Luxe and Lush was originally called Flaming Gems and it was inspired by Katniss' interview dress.
Stone Cold was quite a surprise! There was no mention of a matte polish in the information released from China Glaze. I'm not usually a matte fan, but I definitely love this one! And, of course, you have to see what a matte polish looks like with a shiny top coat (so I added some glossy photos). Stone cold is essentially a black base with silver micro-glitter. The formula was amazing, and I love that matte polishes dry so quickly! This was one coat for the photos above (1 coat!!!).
Stone Cold was originally called Joined at the Seam, which was inspired by the Seam (obviously).

Riveting. A beautiful orange with gold glitter running through it, much like a glass fleck. And, an extra bonus for me, I can actually wear it and have it look good on me! This color is gorgeous and pure perfection. It is so vibrant. The formula was a bit on the runny side (watch your brush it gathers up and then drips down when you least expect it!). But it was manageable and covered nicely in 2 coats. Hands down, one of my favorites from the collection.
Riveting was originally called Fire in Flight and was inspired by the flaming mockingjay.
Hook and Line. My least favorite of the entire collection. The actual color isn't that bad. I could probably live with it if it wasn't for the brush strokes! This frosty polish leaves no room for error. This is the main reason why I absolutely loathe frost finished polishes. The brush strokes. Application was better on my ring and pinky fingers, but it took a lot of effort to get to that point. And it still sucks. And this was even runnier than Riveting. This was 2 coats. I probably won't wear this again.
Hook and Line was originally called Coal Hearted and was inspired by District 12 (I don't really think that's the right color for coal).
Electrify. A gold and red glitter. Am I the only one who thinks of Pikachu when I see this color? Every time, I swear! I definitely didn't expect Electrify to be as opaque as it was, I thought it would be more of a layering polish. Obviously it's too dense for layering. But I tried! Formula was fine, but I had to pat on the glitter much like I did for Luxe and Lush. At least for the first coat, the second coat went on a bit smoother. These pictures are: 2 coats of Electrify on pointer, 1 coat of Electrify over Smoke and Ashes on middle, 1 coat of Electrify over Riveting on ring and 1 coat of Electrify over Harvest Moon on pinky.
I think that Electrify was originally called Heat of the Moment and was inspired by the costumes that Peeta and Katniss wear in the arena...not what I pictured. Maybe more of their interview clothes.
Fast Track is a tan color with flecks of gold (so another glass fleck in my opinion). This is a great interview/corporate job color! I had heard that people used it to layer, so I decided to try my hand at it, as well as show you the whole hand with just Fast Track. The entire mani was 2 coats and the formula was smooth. In the layering pictures: 2 coats of FT on pointer and middle finger, 1 coat of FT over Smoke and Ashes on ring finger and 1 coat of Fast Track over Mahogany Magic on pinky finger.
Fast Track was originally called Catnip and was inspired by Katniss (obviously by the nickname that Gale had for her based on their first meeting).
There's your first 6 districts for you. Tomorrow I'll have the fortune cookie soap review. How are you getting ready for the Hunger Games release?
